Electroswing extraordinaires Swingrowers have been hard at work producing some playful tunes to warm up what has been a cruel and frigid winter. The Palermo-based quintet is set to release their next album in February. Fresh off the presses is their latest single, “No Strings Attached,” a riveting track with vocal melodies that take you for a wild ride.
The song starts with a tick-tock whimsy. The listener is transported to a technicolor racetrack, with a beat that goes around and around and around. How many laps? By the time Loredana’s vocals come in, a checkered flag waving high and low, it’s hard to keep count. The horns are unobtrusive, cheering spectators urging the beat forward. The checkered flag simultaneously warns against the threat of societal pressures that force individuals into chronic in-authenticity, while urging the listener to keep thinking, keep dancing, and never stop moving. At the break comes that critical moment where you look around one last time, then put the pedal to the metal. Nearing the finish line, the beat has returned and it’s impossible to be still. This is a track for the thinking clubber, the cerebral chauffeur, and the discerning music junkie.
Be on the lookout for the new Swingrowers album on February 23rd. In the meantime, warm up your dancing muscles with “No Strings Attached” and their previous record, Remote. If “No Strings Attached” is any indication of what is to come on the new release, listeners will want to be limber.
