President Obama’s 2016 Summer Playlist

The Whitehouse recently put out President Obama’s summer play list.  The play list is split out into two sections a day time list and a night time list. I have to say that I have an affinity for the President’s choice in his musical selection.

“For a second year in a row, President Obama hand-picked his favorite songs for a summer playlist. Take a listen to some of his picks for a summer day.”—via The White House on potify

Take a listen to this glimpse into the Libro Musica of the POTUS.  Any surprises?  I’ll have these in my rotation through out the summer!

“Been waiting to drop this: summer playlist, the encore. What’s everybody listening to?” – President Obama

The President’s 2016 Summer Playlist: Day

The day list includes jazz, soul, hip-hop songs and even The Beach Boys.  My favorite selection from the day list is Common’s “Forever Begins.”  In addition to thought provoking songs, The President tossed in a nod to himself with “Classic Man” by Jidenna.

The night list takes on a much more mellow mood with a few sultry songs tossed in.  I am once again reminded that the Obama’s have great taste in music as I listened to this play list.  How can you not love a list that includes Floetry, D’Angelo, Billie Holiday, Corinne Bailey Rae and surprisingly Method Man & Mary J. Blige on “I’ll Be There For You.”   I get a warm glow inside as I think of Barack and Michelle smiling together as they grove to “I got a love jones for you body and your skin tone...”

The Whitehouse Spotify channel started in 2015.  Since then the White House has also used Spotify to share the First Lady’s girl-power picks for National Day of the Girl and holiday playlists curated by the Obamas and the Bidens.
